The PMP® is recognized the world over as the gold standard in project management.Getting PMP® certification is not a guarantee for a successful job search, but it will increase your odds for being shortlisted for interviews.In today’s competitive job market if you are looking for a Project Managers position, then getting PMP® certified can significantly increase your chances of getting a job. The certification will certainly help you do your job better.
Both PMP® and PRINCE2® are certifications in the Project Management domain, but are not related. PMP® certification is administered by Project Management Institute (PMI® ) and PRINCE2® is administered by AXELOS. Both PMP® and PRINCE2® are reputed credentials and the decision to attempt one certification vs the other is better made based on the geographic area and the preference of the organizations that you would like to build your career with.
Project Management Institute® (PMI® ) is the certification administering body and Project Management Professional® (PMP® ) is the name of certification that you earn.
Absolutely not! The certification is internationally recognized and applicable for management professionals in multiple industries.
PMI® stipulates the following as the prerequisites for the exam Secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree or the global equivalent),7500 hours leading and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education OR Four-year degree,4500 hours leading and directing projects, 35 hours of project management education.
Average time required to properly prepare for the exam is around 2 months spending around 3 hours per day. However there are fast learners who has cramped the preparation time to as low as two to three weeks also.
PMP® exams are conducted at Prometric® testing centers. They have a network of testing centers across the globe.
The following domains appear for the examination with the percentages given in brackets –
- Initiating ( 13%)
- Planning (24%)
- Executing (31%)
- Monitoring and Controlling (25%) and
- Closing (7%)

The exam consists of 200 multiple choice questions and you have four hours to complete it. Twenty-five of the 200 questions on the exam are “sample” questions placed randomly to fine-tune the exam and not counted for certification. The test taker is only graded on their proficiency on 175 questions.
PMBOK® stands for Project Management Body of Knowledge® – a collection of processes, best practices, terminologies, and guidelines that are accepted as standards among the Project Management Community.
The certification is valid for 3 years beyond which it needs to be renewed.
If you want tovretain the certification, you are required to earn 60 Professional Development Units (PDUs)every three-year certification cycle. Ways to earn PDUs can be seen here.
You can take the exam again up to 3 times within one year after your application is approved for the first time. You may schedule a date anytime within this period to retake the exam.

Your exam voucher fee is included in the price of this course. However, you must procure the exam voucher within six months from the date of course purchase. In the event that an exam price does go up and you have not yet booked the exam, you will need to pay the difference in amount to EdyWood.
Exam vouchers are valid for 1 year from the date of issuance. If you do not book the exam within 1 year from purchase of voucher, you will need to buy the voucher again per the actual price.
No, exam voucher cost cannot be refunded once it is issued to a learner as we procure this from third party bodies. EdyWood does not own the voucher policies and cost.
After successful completion of the training, you will be awarded the course completion certificate. Once you clear the exam you will then receive the certification from The Open Group.
